This 75-bed hospital serves the tribal people of the region. It has good operating rooms, and is supported by laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray and ultrasound facilities and has physiotherapy and mother/child healthcare departments. Trained and registered nurses and midwives who are interested in working with tribal people in a remote but well-populated region are being sought. The majority of our nurses are competent ?practical nurses? trained in the hospital and the nurse/midwife would supervise and further train these nurses. Ob-Gyn nurses are especially needed. Short-term nurses are needed for introducing barrier nursing in the baby nursery and should be willing to work alongside the local nurses. Experienced registered nurses, both male and female, are needed, in all areas of specialization. If a nurse is highly specialized and used to advanced technology, s/he may be frustrated here. Because of cultural sensitivities, midwives should be female. Candidates should be prepared to commit long term, since language study for a period of about twelve to eighteen months is a requirement. Supervisory and teaching experience are extras we appreciate.
