Gifts for Humanity We seek outstanding undergraduate and graduate students as interns for the current school year and for the summer to collaborate on the boldest nonprofit initiative we know. Develop business skills and make a difference. The Business: Our team previously created ChangingThePresent.org, which helps nonprofits capture some of the $250 billion Americans spend each year buying traditional presents, just as Heifer International does. It does so by making donations, made in a friend?s name, feel more like a gift: tangible charitable opportunities, personalized greeting cards, wish lists and registries. Rather than buy another unwanted present, you can preserve an acre of the rainforest, fund an hour of cancer research, provide vaccines for kids, etc. Wish lists, registries, and personalized printed greeting cards make it feel like a real gift. The site has attracted hundreds of leading nonprofits; people love the experience; and the NY Times referred to it as an "amazon.com of the nonprofit world." In order to encourage nonprofits to send supporters, we now offer nonprofits what is essentially a white-label version of that site. They will get all that functionality, but within their own silo so that their supporters are not exposed to other nonprofits. Please see the introduction and PowerPoint at http://GiftsForHumanity.org. Location: We are in Manhattan, conveniently located right across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Four express subway stops, LIRR, and the PATH train are all within one block. We also hire interns to work remotely from other cities. The Work: Interns will work in small teams as we market the web service to nonprofits working in particular geographic areas or focused on particular causes. You will use social media, public relations, and partnerships to encourage adoption. You will take leadership on projects and work with other highly motivated interns, established professionals, and directly with our co-founder. The Environment: This is, frankly, a great place to work. We get great interns from all over the country and all over the world, so the atmosphere is energetic, creative, and fun. It's also casual; we're interested in your brains, creativity and heart. Want to work in jeans, a t-shirt and flip-flops? Why not! What do we offer? You will enhance your resume with a solid record of professional achievement and community service, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped nonprofits get the resources they need to make the world a better place. Compensation: We can offer a great experience, a great addition to your résumé, academic credit (if your school allows), stunning recommendations, and a chance to make a difference, but we are a start-up nonprofit, so can only offer unpaid internship and volunteer positions. Do check to see if your school offers a stipend program. If you want a great experience doing something you will always be proud of, please send a short cover letter and a resume to interns@GiftsForHumanity.org. Impress us. This is competitive. Thank you very much!
