Our mentoring program provides an excellent opportunity for those who want to have a deep and impactful relationship with a young person. We ask our mentors to spend at least 2 hours per week with their mentee. Studies have shown that mentor relationships that are shorter than 16 months have a tendency to be more harmful than helpful, so we ask our mentors to consider this opportunity as a long term commitment. We offer mentor training, coaching, and ideas for what to do with your mentee. We focus on developing assets that will help the mentee to develop into a responsible adult. If this sounds like something you are interested in, please take a few moments to fill out the volunteer application online. After I receive your application, I will contact you to schedule an interview to make sure the program is a right fit for you and discuss our volunteer opportunities and your volunteer desires and availability. To fill out the application, please go to: http://www.lakeavefoundation.org/volunteer/application/ Requirements: Must be 22 or older, a Christian, and have a desire to be a long-term mentor.
