Description

Opportunity Description: The Greater Boston Vineyard works in partnership with a local affordably housing complex where approximatley 2000 people reside, representing over 20 different countries. Most of the residents are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants whose first language is not English. Its a community of families working very hard to become integrated and truly thrive here in Cambridge. The unique cultures and friendly atmosphere make this a lively, diverse and friendly community! The apartment complex has recently constructed a brand new computer lab. By providing computer access, the center works to increase technological literacy and decrease the digital divide. Among other things, the computer center enables adults to create resumes, find jobs, and connect with friends & family members across the world and helps kids complete homework assignments, conduct research and learn typing skills. Organization Description: The Greater Boston Vineyard works to empower impossibly great communities. Through the context of relationships and by partnering with other organizations, we believe that we each can play an integral role in helping to build healthy, sustainable communities, bridging the lines of class and race and tangibly expressing compassion and justice.
