City Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada. In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000+ volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries. Job Description: The Compton Initiative Intern will assist the Compton Initiative Coordinator with operational support for all people, resources, organizations and other acts reasonably necessary to conduct Compton Initiative Outreach Workdays, weekday mission groups, and related events such as appreciation parties and celebrations. Intern Will Learn:
  • The organization, infrastructure, and operations of a Non-Profit organization
  • Planning and organizing a large workday to engage over 1,500 volunteers
  • Experience working with diverse communities to improve a targeted focus area
  • Communication of organization through social media channels
  • Duties & Responsibilities: The duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in planning and executing the quarterly workday with the Compton Initiative Coordinator
  • Assisting volunteers at worksite to complete beautification tasks (paint scraping, painting, yardwork, murals, etc.)
  • Communicating effectively with volunteers to encourage participation in the Compton Initiative
  • Demonstrating interest and desire for community development in Compton
  • Data entry of volunteer database
  • Maintenance and content creation of social media
  • Benefits: For Interns with a Bachelors Degree: One Year Paid Internship
  • Volunteer Interns paid a living stipend from $200-$600/month (depending on site).
  • Expectation is typically 40 hours of volunteer work per week.

  • Requirements
  • At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be a Christian
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien, or have a valid student or work visa
  • Able to make at least a one year commitment (may be extended by mutual agreement)
  • Experience in community, campus, or similar involvement
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift 40-50lbs (tools, equipment, etc.)
  • Valid driver?s license and good driving record (own reliable transportation strongly preferred)
  • Spanish speaking preferred
  • Able to financially live on just free housing (and stipend if you opt for the One Year Paid Internship) and any outside income sources you have.
  • Able to relocate to a location of a ministry site (unless a site exists at your current location)
