Food for the Hungry is an international relief and development organization that answers God's call to meet
the physical and spiritual needs of the poor in more than 45 countries. Founded in 1971 by Dr. Larry Ward, Food
for the Hungry exists to help individuals reach their God-given potential.
In developing countries on nearly every continent, Food for the Hungry works with churches, leaders and
families to provide the resources they need to help their communities become self-sustaining.
When disasters strike, Food for the Hungry is often one of the first organizations on the ground to provide
and facilitate emergency relief assistance to those in urgent need of food, shelter, and medical care.
Our ministry staff members are also immersed in hundreds of developing communities around the world,
implementing long-term development programs such as agriculture training, clean water and food security programs,
church development, child development, nutrition education and HIV/AIDS care and prevention.
In a world with so much need and suffering, you might wonder if you can you make a difference? You can!
Sponsorship gives you the opportunity to bring hope into the life of a child. By sponsoring a child, you can help
meet the critical needs of a hurting child, you can show them someone cares, and you communicate the value and
potential God has given them. You can offer lasting hope and a brighter future for a child living in extreme
poverty.
Requirements
Food for the Hungry provides multiple ways for you to directly minister to your child. Some sponsors enjoy
sending emails or letters and other sponsors have even visited their child on the field.
Whether in prayer, written communications, or visiting your child, our desire is that you not only see the
fruits of your financial gifts, but also the fruits of direct ministry opportunities.
Food for the Hungry also recruits and equips people in the U.S. to serve through a variety of other
ministries, including Hunger Corps, Short-Term Team Ministry, Volunteer Ministry, Artist Program, and Student
Ministries.
