Real Africa Adventures is a specialist company. We don't produce large catalogues and use numbers to describe our trips. We focus on the client and their individual dream of Africa to build personalised safari itineraries. We will introduce you to the real Africa over a period of 14 days or more. Meet the people in their homes, eat their food, hear their music and listen to their stories. Work with them; get a real feel for their culture. Watch wildlife in the national parks. Swim and sunbathe at beach resorts. If you're looking for a trip or holiday that goes beyond the boundaries of an average safari, Real Africa Adventures offers a whole host of activities. Our aim is to make your volunteer holiday as convenient, relevant, interesting and exciting as possible for you and the local people. The experience of seeing and experiencing a different culture can be very fulfilling. Our Holidays and vacations give you a chance to use your work skills in the voluntary sector to promote intercultural learning and improve the lives of the people you meet. Finally, volunteer holidays offer you a chance to meet like minded people and to make new friends not only among the local people but also people from around the world and you get to see the Real Africa. Sample itinerary for volunteer trip: Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport. You will be met by a Real Africa Excursions representative and have a brief orientation. Transfer to Guest House in Kampala. Depending on your arrival, Visit Munyonyo Lake resort for a rest and afternoon swim in an Olympic size swimming pool, then back to the Guest House for the evening Day 2: After breakfast, your driver and our field Manager will take you to the project to introduce you to the staff and give you a guided tour. After this initial introduction you will then have the opportunity to become involved straight away. Your packed lunch will be delivered to you at the project. Day 3: After breakfast you will spend the day working at the project and have a packed lunch prepared. Day 4: After breakfast, once again the day is spent working at the project. You will have a packed lunch prepared as usual. Day 5: After breakfast, once again the day is spent working at the project. You will have a packed lunch prepared as usual. Day 6: Our experienced guide will take you through the sights and sounds of the hilly city of Kampala. Meet people renowned for their friendliness and visit interesting cultural sites. The tour can include the Uganda Museum, Kasubi Tombs, Makerere University, Nakasero Market, Craft markets, Marimba Cathedral, Rubaga Cathedral, Kibuli Mosque, Kabaka's lake, Uganda Museum and more. Enjoy a traditional Ugandan style lunch at a favourite local restaurant. Day 7: After breakfast, we go into Kampala for the morning. Sunday Church services at K.P.C for those who want to join 2,000 other people in a service at one of UgandaÃ???fs biggest churches with membership of 10,000. Then have a lazy afternoon Munyonyo Lake resort for a swim and lunch. In the evening we will go to Ndere cultural centre to watch a variety of Uganda culture performances with songs and dances from the major tribes of Uganda. Meals and drinks will be served here then back to the Guest House for a well deserved rest. Day 8: After breakfast, once again the day is spent working at the project. You will have a packed lunch prepared as usual. Day 9: After breakfast, once again the day is spent working at the project. You will have a packed lunch prepared as usual. Day 10: You are about to experience Africa as nature intended as we head off to Queen Elizabeth Game Park. There is an amazing list of wildlife to see in its natural environment. We then head west from Kampala through magnificent hilly country and lush cultivation, passing through the market town of Masaka after stopping at the Equator for photographs. We then stop for lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch we continue our drive west, have a short taster game drive at the Queen Elizabeth Game Park and proceed to the hotel in Kasese town. Day 11: Today is a special day. We wake up for an early morning game drive to see African wildlife in the Park and take a packed breakfast along. The game drive will last 3 hours, then we go on to Mweya Safari Lodge for lunch and visit the Park museum. There is a swimming pool if anyone wants to cool down after lunch! At 3:00pm we take the launch trip up the Kazinga Channel, which separates Lakes Edward and George, viewing a variety of game. Return at 5.00pm and drive to the hotel in Kasese Town. Day 12: After breakfast we begin the return drive to Kampala, stopping just after Masaka town at Mpambiire drum village to see the Ugandan drum craftsmen at work. We arrive back in Kampala late in the evening for a good rest! Day 13: Today is a free day for you to go shopping/pack and say your goodbyes. After packing we go out to Kampala city for our final evening meal in a favourite restaurant. Day 14: Departure back home.

Requirements

Skills required & what you might do on a volunteering trip: Generally projects don't require specific skills though motivation, enthusiasm and a flexible approach are essential. English is usually the common language although a level of proficiency in the host country language or Swahili would be a bonus. Likewise, certain projects, such as social or arts-based work, may require you to have some previous experience within that field.
