Mission Statement


STARS - Speakers, Tutors, Achievement, Retention, Success helps "at-promise" youth from economically challenge backgrounds enrolled in Job Corps, by providing tutors, mentors and motivational speakers to help students achieve the necessary academic, and life skills to be successful.

Description


Job Corps is the largest residential, academic & vocational training facility in the United States. We work with economically disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 24 with achieving academic and vocational training necessary to become self-sufficient. 75% of the students entering Job Corps do not have a high school diploma and others may need to strengthen academic skills to perform the necessary skills in the work environment.

This organization does not have a statement of faith as it is a government run program with a volunteer component. The manager of the program is a Christian, believing in the trinity and Jesus Christ as Savior. While it is not a requirement, many of the volunteers are Christians.
