Organizational Statement of Faith

We acknowledge the firm belief expressed by our founder, Ballington Booth, when he said, "It is not enough to provide economic security and material comforts. Those who strive for man?s betterment must seek it first through touching the spirit." Serving others is an important means of touching the spirit, and our human service programs and opportunities for individual and community involvement are founded on this belief. Compassion, forgiveness, and hope motivate us, and our programs allow a very unique opportunity to act on these values. The combined resources of enthusiastic volunteers, professional staff, and dedicated supporters from many faith traditions enable Volunteers of America to make the world a more compassionate place. Volunteers of America Western Washington has four commissioned ministers on staff, yet we do not have the customary houses of worship. Instead, our ministry takes us to the streets and to people in need. There we find our community; there we practice our faith. We offer spiritual support to our family of employees and volunteers, performing weddings, funerals and other ministerial services when requested. For more information about the Volunteers of America ministry, and the services we offer, please contact one of our Volunteers of America ministers: Jim Brown, Director of Vehicle Donation Program and Thrift Stores Kelly Holderman, Director of Human Resources Karen Kipling, Vice-President of Organizational Planning and Growth Tom Robinson, President/CEO
