Mission Statement


Variety of New York was founded in 1948 and has been dedicated to enriching the lives of children challenged by poverty, violence, medical conditions and physical handicaps. Continued support from our friends in the theatre, film and entertainment industries, as well as the financial community, our Board members and a committed team of volunteers allow us to reach our goal to, "Never say no to a child in need."

Description


The charitable contributions of our generous benefactors help our children with miraculous cures, provide clean drinking water, improve health care and enable exciting camp opportunities for youngsters who often do not have a chance to enjoy childlike activities. Fundraising through special events generates the funds needs to meet commitments to recipient organizations. In addition, multiple events create increased awareness for Variety and our involvement with children. Annual events have become a popular staple with many contributors of our staff and volunteers, who are always striving for new ways to recognize and reward our contributors. Over the years, Variety -The Children's Charity of New York has granted millions of dollars to more than 50 well deserving organizations and programs in areas of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Variety of New York supports the work of the following hospitals, organizations and programs dedicated to improving the lives of children: Variety Institute for Craniofacial Rehabilitation at New York University Medical Center Schneider Children?s Hospital at Variety Children?s Medical Center of North Shore University Hospital Memorial Sloan Kettering Pediatric Cancer Center Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens Children?s Hospital at Montefiore Variety Pediatric Floor at the Hospital for Joint Diseases St Mary?s Hospital for Children Association to Benefit Children The Point Community Development Corp. University Settlement Society Happiness is Camping
