Mission Statement


To provide education, peer counseling and accountability relationships for youth that will empower them to be successful in life by choosing abstinence from sex outside of marriage and abstinence from drugs, alcohol and tobacco. To give youth the knowledge, skills, and role models to help them form successful two parent families.

Description


ULTRA (Urban Life Training and Reality Assessment) Teen Choice, under the direction of Richard Urban that has a six year history of reaching out to at risk youth in Wards 5,6, 7 and 8 providing prevention programs with an emphasis on primary behavior change. Richard Urban, the founder and Executive Director of ULTRA, has offered the Free Teens multimedia HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy prevention program to students in grades 5-12 in Wards 5 6, 7 and 8 since 1997. In 2003 ULTRA Teen Choice began offering peer counselor training plus clubs at public schools, including Eastern Senior High School, which serves many youth from Wards 6 and 7, Kramer Middle School in Ward 8, and Stuart-Hobson Middle School in Ward 6. ULTRA currently provides the STAR (Students Teaching Abstinence & Responsibility) program at two sites in Ward 6 for two different groups of youth: 4th to 6th grade, and 7th grade to young adults.
