Description

The Salvation Army is organized in a quasi-military structure under the oversight of the General in London, and Territorial leaders throughout the world, and under local operation of field officers ( Lieutenants, Captains and Majors) and local lay leaders ( Sergeants, similar to Deacons and Elders in other churches ). Congregational life centers around the Sunday Morning Holiness Meeting, Evangelistic "Salvation Meetings", Sunday School, Bible Studies and Prayer Meetings and cell groups. There are scounting groups, VBS, Camping, Day Camp and after school activities for young people, and interest groups for adunts and seniors. Music instruction, computer labs and other special programs are operated as local leadership is available. Our main Oakland center is at 379 12th Street, at the edge of Chinatown. Another Corps is in the San Antonio District, and a Service Center is located in Berkeley.

We believe in one God as Creator and Governor of all. 3. We believe in the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 4. We believe that Jesus Christ is both human and divine. 5. We believe that humanity is in a fallen state due to sin. 6. We believe that Christ's death made atonement for all. 7. We believe that Repentance to God, Faith in Christ and Regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to Salvation. 8. We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in Christ, and that the believer has an internal witness of this. 9.
