Description

Opportunities for full-time volunteer service exist in almost every possible realm including: health, mental health, education, social services, ministry, literacy, construction, agriculture, advocacy, community organizing and MANY MORE. Opportunities are available in over 40 U.S. states as well as over 50 countries worldwide. Period of Service: Long term: Most programs offer 1-year and 2-year placements. Compensation/Benefits: Most full-time volunteer programs provide room and board, health insurance and a monthly stipend. An AmeriCorps Education Award may be available for some domestic volunteer programs. Student loan deferment can typically be arranged.

Requirements

Education Requirements: Long term: Most programs desire a college degree in some area but will accept appropriate work/life experience in place of a college degree. Short term: Some education required (typically a high school diploma). Work Authorization Status: Many programs accept only U.S. citizens or U.S. Nationals, but others do accept non-U.S. citizens.
