You've seen the pictures - children running around barefoot in the dirt, their feet cracked and calloused. Every day they put on the only outfit they own - the same shirt, ripped and worn. But what can you do? Come to Malawi on a mission trip with us and spend time with the orphans who will walk miles just to visit with you. Upon arrival, you travel two hours by truck to the Teen Missions in Malawi BIBLE, MISSIONARY &WORK Training Center in Chipoka, located on the shores of Lake Malawi. After a day of repacking supplies, you head to the first of several AIDS Orphans Rescue Units, where you will pitch your tents. Your project is to wash the feet of these orphans and put new socks and shoes on them. In addition, you will also complete small work projects on or near the Units, providing help for these needy children. You will be sharing the love of Jesus through songs, games, puppets and balloons. Because all of your duffel bags will be filled with shoes and socks for the orphans, you will only be permitted to pack what can fit into a Teen Missions-issued carry-on bag. Location: The team will visit the Teen Missions in Malawi BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK Training Center in Chipoka, located on the shores of Lake Malawi. After a day of repacking supplies, you head to the first of several AIDS Orphans Rescue Units (AORU), where you will pitch your tents. Sightseeing/Souvenirs: You will visit Senga Bay and help support the locals by buying wood carvings, wicker baskets and wire sculptures from more than fifty booths filled with handmade items. Housing: You will be housed in classrooms/dorms while at the Teen Missions in Malawi BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK Training Center. While at each AORU you will be in tents. Bathing and laundry will be done using buckets. Travel: After Boot Camp the team will fly from the Orlando International Airport to Dulles International Airport in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Your next flight crosses the Atlantic Ocean to Rome, Italy for refueling, then over the Sahara Desert to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The team will overnight in a hotel before continuing the next morning to Lilongwe, Malawi, known as the "Warm Heart of Africa". Important information: Because of the amount of shoes and socks that will be taken with the team, all personal belongings must fit into one Teen Missions-issued carry-on.
