Description

Opportunity Description: The Greater Boston Vineyard works in partnership with a local affordably housing complex where approximatley 2000 people reside, representing over 20 different countries. Most of the residents are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants whose first language is not English. Its a community of families working very hard to become integrated and truly thrive here in Cambridge. The unique cultures and friendly atmosphere make this a lively, diverse and friendly community! The apartment complex has recently constructed a brand new computer lab. By providing computer access, the center works to increase technological literacy and decrease the digital divide. Among other things, the computer center enables adults to create resumes, find jobs, and connect with friends & family members across the world and helps kids complete homework assignments, conduct research and learn typing skills. The Computer Center is looking to expand their services and is look for individuals to teach computer classes. Individuals are needed to teach an array of different computer courses. Classes run in 8-week sessions and are open to residents living in the apartment complex. Individuals could partner with a friend and do team teaching for a class. Requirements

We are looking for an indvidual to lead a digital arts and music program for middle-school and high school kids in order to introduce kids to some of the many uses of computer and potentially things that would interest them in future career choices. Computers currently have some photo and music editing software, but more could be purchased as necessary. Individual must be energetic, patient, good with kids, flexible and able to take initiative in planning and leading a class of (on average) 5 people, with a time-commitment of 1-2 hours a week. (Class time can be determined based on your availability)
