Mission Statement

My Sister’s Place is a non-profit, collaborative community dedicated to the rehabilitation of formerly incarcerated, displaced , homeless and at-risk women in transition, ages 18 & over in Marion County, Indiana. With a community treatment approach, our focus is to provide a warm and comfortable environment where women can stabilize and focus on rebuilding their lives in the community. Our mission is: • To assist women in their recovery from addictive behaviors and a criminal lifestyle. • To maximize independence and self-sufficiency. • To encourage the development of positive relationships between women and their families. • To serve women who need assistance when re-entering the community following incarceration or transitioning to a less restrictive environment. • To support at-risk women in rebuilding and gaining control of their lives.

Description

We are a non-profit that serves women, children and the community. We do this by providing a food pantry, clothing, housewares, counseling, employment training, recovery classes, leadership skills. We are starting a new training program in recycling, re-using and re-purposing fabrics and textiles. The women we serve will have an opportunity to gain some realistic training and education in marketing and recycling, while at the same time being able to make a living a wage to support their families without returning to previous negative lifestyles. We are open 5 days a week, from 9 am to 5 pm and we are located on the westside of Indianapolis. We are an all volunteer organization and are supported by the kindness of people in the community. We are currently writing grants to help with the expenses of running these programs.
