Mission Statement

The Mission in Citrus Ministry was created in 2008 out of diverse religious traditions to build relationships with Homeless Veterans and many others in need , in the rural areas of Florida.Today, we build relationships in a variety of settings, and all are helped regardless of their beliefs or unique situations. Many Veterans have given up trusting in our society, and have little access to shelter and services in rural settings. Our program is designed for those who are far from less than perfect and know it , but want and need help.Through building these relationships and the provision of housing, health, outreach, spiritual, and social services, we seek to empower homeless people of all ages to meet their own needs. Recognizing the uniqueness, dignity, and value of each person, we accept individuals as they are, in an affirming and compassionate manner, and call upon the larger community to the same mission. The Mission provides basic and self-care supplies, free health care, housing and supportive services for the homeless that are the hardest to reach, referrals to other resources and more.

Our Mountain Bike patrols through Operation Mercy call have reached those who have never been reached before. We ride through the woods and swamps in several counties.Unfortunately a dead body was found on our rounds. At least we were able to see him get a proper burial. In 2010 , our goals are to start our hydroponic and aquaponic gardens. Our Angels on Wheels , and several other innovative programs. Our goal is to end rural homelessness around America.

Organizational Statement of Faith

These core beliefs make up the foundation upon which our shelter endeavers are based. Mission in Citrus believes: • The Bible to be the infallible Word of God, that it is His holy and inspired Word, and that it is of supreme and final authority. • In one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. • Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He led a sinless life, took on Himself all our sins, died and rose again, and is seated at the right hand of the Father as our mediator and advocate. • That all men everywhere are lost and face the judgment of God, and need to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through His shed blood on the cross. • That Christ rose from the dead and is coming soon. • In holy Christian living, and that we must have concern for the hurts and social needs of our fellowmen. • We must dedicate ourselves anew to the service of our Lord and to His authority over our lives. • In using every modern means of communication available to us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world
