Description

Jesus Race & You Ministries, Inc. is an intra-church racial reconciliation ministry, equipping the church to enfold and embrace racial diversity. We envision an environment within local congregations of embrace, enfolding and empowering persons of diverse races and ethnicities. We envision Christian communities of multiracial inclusion. We envision the dynamic activity of the Holy Spirit through the exercise of Spiritual gifts that encourages, embraces, and enfolds believers regardless of race, class, culture or ethnicity. We call this racial reconciliation.

Organizational Statement of Faith

We believe that racial reconciliation begins when a disciple of Jesus Christ comes to an awareness that American Christianity has been and continues to be tarnished by the historic problem of racial hostility and separation. We understand that as disciples of Jesus Christ, the whole of our lives are in the process of being transformed until we are formed in the image of Christ. We recognize that as disciples of Jesus Christ, just as we submit patterns of speech and behavior to the Holy Spirit for personal growth and transformation, we also submit our values, beliefs and behaviors on race, culture and inclusion to Jesus' teachings. We believe that Jesus brand spirituality provides a way for Christians in their spiritual pilgrimage to be transformed to a righteous and mature state that is free from these historically corrupt, hostile and destructive influences. We believe that "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." As a result, we believe that freedom from the pervasiveness of racial and cultural tensions can be realized personally and collectively in local Christian congregations. We conclude that it is the obligation of every American Christian to pursue freedom and liberation from historic racial tensions and misunderstanding that leads to and sustains the color line in the Church.
