Description

Harvest Seed International Foundation (HSIF), is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2004. We globally aide disadvantaged, neglected, and underprivileged children, youth, adults and families to help them become self sufficient, build dignity, and destroy the crippling effects of dependency. In Christ’s teachings the Bible states that, "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world" James 1:27 (NJKV). It is our ministry and mission to go out and offer the opportunity to teach the distraught and underprivileged a skill to be able to grow their own food, learn a trade to support themselves and their family and provide them an education so they can better provide for their families and neighbors. We also have a calling to go out and preach the gospel to the total person by assisting in creating a rich environment to transform their lives through education and vocational training, spiritual growth, social growth, food programs, and help change their environment. In 2004, through God’s blessing, a small business entrepreneur named Michael Arneson started the Michael R. Arneson Foundation, Inc, which is currently known as "Harvest Seed International Foundation" (HSIF). Upon its conception, HSIF became a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt, non-profit, faith based foundation. Michael’s vision is to go into the poorest of the poor countries to offer the people the possibility of hope and a better way of life. His dream, along with a goal, was to go into twelve different countries that would represent the twelve tribes of Israel. His vision focus’ on the orphans and widows and help to provide a better way of life for them through the teaching of hygiene, providing food, clothing and education/trade skills to achieve a new way of life. His desire is to enable the children to become self sufficient and the possibility of becoming financially independent. But also give the widows a purpose in life and to share their life experiences. His vision also centered on making aware within the United States the growing need concerning the poor. In 2006, his dream became a reality; HSIF was able to purchase 11 acres of ground and a partial built house in Gonaives, Haiti. On the property was a shell of a house that has now become our main Mission House for HSIF missionaries and other missionaries who share HISF’s dream. The compound is entirely enclosed with a 12 ft. wall for added security and to keep out the free range animals. Harvest Seed International Foundation’s goal is to create or support ministries to children and widows in 12 Third World countries around the world. We began in December 2004 in Gonaives, Haiti. We have now expanded our ministry by partnering with the ministries listed below. Haiti Harvest Seed Orphanage 2004 India Rays of Cross Ministries (2006) Israel Holy Land Ministries (2006) Uganda Tender Mercies Ministries (2007) USA Appalachian Project - Kentucky (2007) Hunger Grow Away - New Mexico (2008) Cambodia People For Care and Learning (2008)
