Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson, Inc. works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into "all that God intends."

Description

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization whose purpose is to build and sell decent affordable housing at no profit and no interest to low-income families who need better housing. Individuals, churches and businesses donate money, materials and time to Habitat. The money provides initial capital. To keep the cost of the homes affordable, as much volunteer labor and as many donated supplies as possible are used. Families work alongside volunteers, putting in "sweat equity" hours. As they make their house payments, contributions are recycled and used again. Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson was founded in 1986. Since then, Habitat Jackson has built over 420 homes in the Metro Jackson area. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30-4:30. Construction staff work Tuesday through Saturday.
