Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity-Golden Empire (HFH-GE) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). We are a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. Our affiliate, HFH-GE, carries out the Habitat mission in Kern County, by inviting people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to help build houses with families in need. Using volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds homes with the help of future homeowners, HabitatÂ’s partner families. Homes are sold to partner families at no profit, financed through affordable, no-interest mortgages, and repaid over a fixed period, usually 30 years. Monthly mortgage payments are used to support the construction of more homes through a revolving Fund for Humanity.
Description
Habitat’s main focus is on the families it serves. The most driving reason to become involved is that you have it in your power to change one family’s future. You can break the cycle of poverty for partner families–permanently–by helping us to provide simple, decent and affordable homes. In addition to financially supporting a Habitat build, Habitat for Humanity-Golden Empire encourages members of your organization to become volunteers and work side-by-side with the partner family. Your organization will be united, perhaps as never before, by giving this life-giving partnership. By building a home, you will be recycling that donation for years to come. Your gift of dollars and labor continue to give, long after your project is completed. As principal payments are made, Habitat uses those funds to build the next house, and the next.
