Mission Statement


To empower impossibly great lives ...together ...locally and worldwide ...until Jesus returns ...enjoying our lives as we do it. One of the core dreams of the Greater Boston Vineyard is that we would tangibly and effectively promote compassion, justice and reconciliation. We'd love to play a part in eliminating poverty, oppression and suffering in our local community and around the world. And in our own church, we'd love to see people from diverse backgrounds in meaningful relationships and following Jesus together. Ultimately, as the dividing lines of class, race and ethnicity are broken down in Jesus' name, we believe that we'll experience the fullness of being a part of God's family and unparalleled blessings from God as concrete expressions of heaven in our present lives.

Description


Launched in 2007, VCO is an initiative at the Greater Boston Vineyard to build diverse community and promote social justice in the City of Cambridge. VCO believes the most effective, long-term change comes through meaningful, diverse relationships and partnerships in the community. This vision and hope is enacted in three primary areas: youth iniatives, community building initiatives and empowerment initiatives.

Organizational Statement of Faith


We affirm perhaps the fundamental statement of faith for most people trying to follow Jesus since the very early church. The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father. And he will come again in glory to judge both the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
