Mission Statement

Partnering in service to the students, faculty and families of Dorchester and Roxbury, Massachusetts

Description

This year, Grace Street celebrates its fifth year of service to the students, teachers and families of Dorchester Academy, a public high school located in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Over the past four years, we have had the privilege of serving the school community and developing relationships with the students, families, faculty and administration of the school. Our desire is to give back to and embrace the city in which we live. Out of this desire was birthed our friendship with Dorchester Academy. Each week we have the privilege to work alongside students and teachers, and see the kids begin to grasp concepts, succeed, and care about themselves and their work. Last year, we expanded our volunteer efforts into the O'Bryant School of Math and Science, an exam school in Roxbury Massachusetts. We are excited to continue that Saturday morning program this year as well. Each week, approximately 30 volunteers serve in our programs, serving hundreds of students in the classroom and after-school settings. This year, we will provide 67 families with a full Thanksgiving feast, packaged and delivered directly to their homes. At Christmastime, we fill the gift wishes of 43 families, endeavoring to make the holiday season a time of joy and peace for those we serve.
