Mission Statement

We have a strong vision of raising up disciples of Christ, in Spirit and in truth, and are primarily carrying this vision out with school children in Guatemala through the means of Christian education. We believe that a Christ-centred education is crucial to breaking poverty cycles.

Description

Primarily, we operate a Christian school for 300 children that is staffed almost entirely by Guatemalan nationals. Guatemala is an impoverished nation desperately in need of quality eduation with a Christ centred focus. Our goal is for our students to come to know Christ and to receive an education that will help to break cycles of poverty in their lives. A secondary justice initiative that we have is building homes for families in need. We receive visiting North-American short-term teams year round and have a number of year-long contract positions for North Americans who wish to teach English abroad for a year.

Organizational Statement of Faith

WE BELIEVE in one true God, uncreated and eternal, co-existing in three persons: Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. WE BELIEVE in God, the Father, who is Creator of heaven and earth, the Almighty God, the LORD. WE BELIEVE in God the Son, Jesus Christ, who was in the beginning with God, only begotten Son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born to Mary, a virgin betrothed to Joseph, that He willingly suffered and died for the sins of the world making those who place their faith in Jesus righteous before God. We believe that on the third day, Jesus was resurrected from the grave to later take his place at the right hand of God as our eternal high priest, making intercession for the saints, until He comes again. WE BELIEVE in God the Holy Spirit and that Jesus desires to baptize believers in the Holy Spirit. We believe that the role of the Holy Spirit includes a continual filling and empowering of believers to live for Christ, accomplish the purposes of Christ?s kingdom and that the Holy Spirit always upholds and promotes the person of Jesus. WE BELIEVE in the inerrant Word of God, present in the sixty-six books of the Bible, inspired by God, living and active in the lives of believers. WE BELIEVE in the existence of Satan, his kingdom of darkness, and hell. We believe that the power of darkness was broken at the cross of Calvary through Jesus Christ, but a final judgment will come at the end of the age when Satan will be cast forever into the lake of fire which has been prepared beforehand for him and his fallen angels. WE BELIEVE that all of humanity, though made in the image of God, has sinned as all have joined the rebellion that began with Adam and Eve. We believe that it is only through God?s grace and faith in Jesus Christ that a person is saved from his or her sin and reconciled with God. WE BELIEVE that water baptism is a visible symbol of our repented life and our personal choice to follow Jesus and a powerful act of dying to self and being raised in Christ. WE BELIEVE that Jesus has commanded the church to go, proclaim the good news of Jesus, make disciples of all nations, and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that He has commanded. WE BELIEVE that Jesus is coming again at the end of the age, that He will bring in a new heaven and a new earth and will then establish His everlasting kingdom of justice and righteousness.
