Mission Statement

Our mission is to sustainably manage the natural, cultural, historical and other heritage resources of EOC in accordance with agreed policies, strategies and operational guidelines. Our goal is to conserve the unique, vulnerable and valuable environmental assets within this region. Specifically, our 2012-2017 strategic objectives are to: 1. Maintain biological connectivity between the Hells Gate, Kidong Ranch, Mt. Suswa, Mosiro, Shompole, and Olkiramatian group ranches and Nairobi National Park and other protected areas in Kenya 2. Create a buffer zone around Nairobi National Park 3. Conserve habitat to protect biodiversity 4. Promote sustainable development in local communities of the Olooruka and Olesakut ecosystems The EOC provides an alternative to "the big game reserves" with unique adventure potential based on the exclusive geological features, archaeological sites and pristine wildlife population. In our efforts to protect wildlife, we are continually striving for new ways in which to accomplish our goals. These include projects in; eco-tourism, economic development, fundraising, education, research, conflict management, and communication. We are involved in the many aspects of community life in and around the conservancy in order to improve the lives of the people and land which will in turn help to protect our wildlife. The conservancy is home to Maasai giraffes, Eland antelopes, Reedbucks, Impalas, Lions and others as well as a variety of bird species. The area is irregularly visited by elephants and wild dogs. The vegetation is Acacia – Commiphora dominated but after rain many more plants shoot up and flower. The views from the hills into the Great Rift Valley, Lake Magadi and Mount Kilimanjaro are splendid! You will encounter its beauty on foot accompanied by guides and rangers. Currently we provide space for mobile tented camps in a lovely place with good security. We are open and welcome a collaboration with you for all or part of the above items which will boost our communities in conserving their natural capital for current and future generations as we strive to implement conservation projects inside and outside the conservancy.
