Mission Statement

Cross International (Cross) is an inter-denominational Christian relief and development organization based in South Florida that provides food, shelter, education, medical care and emergency aid to the poor in 30 countries across the globe. Cross grew out of the vision of two Christian ministries engaged in providing aid to the poor in Haiti ? Christian Children?s Charity of Branson, MO, and the Kielar Family Foundation. In addition to its work in Haiti and the Caribbean, Cross has grown to reach those suffering extreme poverty in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Just five years after its founding, Cross was named the 83rd largest non-profit in the U.S. by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. In recognition that poverty ravages many areas of the world, Cross dedicates itself to a ministry of relief and development to aid the poorest of the poor. When possible, the ministry works not to sustain the needy, but rather to break the cycle of poverty that plagues them by providing educational opportunities and focusing on community development. The charity gives aid to the poor in two ways: 1) it provides cash grants to support development programs, and 2) it ships millions of dollars worth of humanitarian aid to people in desperate need. In every case, Cross? method of outreach is the same. It locates needy church-based ministries serving the poor in developing countries and provides them with financial support and distributes material aid through their existing programs. This style of outreach enables Cross to supply meaningful help where it is needed most, while keeping overhead costs low.

Description

Thousands of churches in developing countries already run programs to aid the poor, including orphanages, clinics, schools, job training centers, and home-building ministries. These churches simply lack resources. Cross International was created to supply these existing ministries with the commodities they want to distribute (food, medicines, clothing, school supplies, building materials, etc.). This strategy also empowers local pastors, helping them spread the Gospel to those who need it most. Cross is currently working in more than 25 countries around the globe, including those in the Caribbean, including Haiti; Central and South America; Africa and the Philippines. Through the support we obtain from the more affluent churches and Christians in America, we are able to respond to specific, urgent needs overseas.

Organizational Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: that the saved are saved unto the resurrection of life, and that the lost are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across racial, gender, and class difference. We seek to reflect God’s love for us in the way we treat others - not only with words of encouragement, but through practical actions which comfort, sustain and uplift those in greatest need. The Scriptures clearly reveal this call to action, and its truth will be our guide (1 John 3:16, Isaiah 58:6-12, Matthew 25:31-46, Acts 2:40-47). As believers in Christ’s Gospel of mercy, we strive to bring God’s promised salvation to men and women of every race, creed and walk of life. Jesus also taught that the needy are rich in faith - a gift which can bless the poor in spirit. Therefore, we seek to create an exchange of both material and spiritual sustenance between the Church in America and churches in developing countries. In all things, we strive to glorify God, revealing His perfect grace to the world.
