Description

Christian Association for Medicalmission and Peoplesdevelopment (CAMP) a non-profit Organization, Committed to the cause of the Dalits, Tribal and fisher communities - poor and marginalized in the rural and urban areas of Guntur and West Godavari Districts irrespective of their caste, creed and religion. The objective of the organization is to work for facilitating the poor to rise from poverty and vulnerability through self-help and collective action towards improvement of their environment, livelihood patterns and proper prioritization of their lives. The CAMP initiative was started in Ponnur, Guntur District in 1992, by a team of committed individuals drawn together by their concern for the deplorable conditions of Dalit, Tribal & fisher folk residing along the seacoast in forest areas of Guntur and West Godavari districts. Today CAMP has done commendable work in its eighteen odd years of existence, and has expanded its activities both in terms of geographical and functional areas. The organization has also remained loyal to its initial target group, the fisher folk, and has stood by them during the most destructive episode in their community life, the Tsunami of 2004, and has done pioneering work to help the community regain its normal functioning. CAMP registered under XXI of 1860 societies Act- 393/1992, also having FCRA registration No. 010190227. The organization is exempted from Income Tax under Section 12A.
