Mission Statement
The Christian Appalachian Project is an interdenominational, non-profit Christian organization committed to serving people in need in Appalachia by providing physical, spiritual and emotional support through a wide variety of programs and services.
Description
Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) serves those most disproportionately affected by poverty: children, the elderly and persons with disabilities. Our long-term volunteers (those who serve 9 months or longer) live in intentional Christian community and make a commitment to service, community and spirituality. CAP was founded by a Catholic priest in 1964 and has always been an interdenominational organization, welcoming people of goodwill who want to make a difference.
