Organizational Statement of Faith

As an expression of the unity found in the body of Christ, through God-given convictions, and affirming our desire to call Christian churches everywhere to care for children at risk, Casa Viva joins together with Christians throughout the ages and around the world in affirming two classic statements of faith. The Apostles Creed One of the earliest expressions of faith, the Apostles Creed has been repeated throughout history by Christians to affirm the core beliefs of Christian faith. "I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heavenand sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen." *The word "catholic" refers not to the Roman Catholic Church, but to the universal church of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lausanne Covenant In a more recent expression of faith John Stott, Billy Graham, and other evangelical leaders convened the Lausanne Convention to reaffirm conservative Christian beliefs and reassert faith in the teachings of Christ. (Excerpt from the Lausanne Covenant) INTRODUCTION We, members of the Church of Jesus Christ, from more than 150 nations, participants in the International Congress on World Evangelization at Lausanne, praise God for his great salvation and rejoice in the fellowship he has given us with himself and with each other. We are deeply stirred by what God is doing in our day, moved to penitence by our failures and challenged by the unfinished task of evangelization. We believe the Gospel is God's good news for the whole world, and we are determined by his grace to obey Christ's commission to proclaim it to all mankind and to make disciples of every nation. We desire, therefore, to affirm our faith and our resolve, and to make public our covenant.
