Mission Statement


The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington Metropolitan Area by acquiring food and distributing it through our network of member agencies; to educate, empower and enlighten the community about issues of hunger and nutrition.

The Capital Area Food Bank is the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area's largest, public non-profit food and nutrition education resource. The Capital Area Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) organization, serves the District, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland, and six counties in Northern Virginia through its Northeast D.C. and Lorton, VA warehouses.
