Mission Statement

The mission of CamAssistance is to help peoples infected and affected by neglected infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS to secure adequate life, nutritional and health support to enhance their lives. Our fundamental aim is to reach as many neglected, infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS patients as fast as we can with life saving prevention programs, practical and compassionate care including child and maternal health care, family planning, education of peoples living with HIV/AIDS, their family, entire households and HIV/AIDS orphans by increasing the quality and number of drug treatments available, education and awareness about the diseases. We have taken a strongly empirical approach covering known and neglected diseases such as Trachoma, the world's leading cause of preventable blindness, soil transmitted helminthes like hookworm which causes stunted growth and absenteeism from school, elephantiasis, an infestation of the lymphatic system which causes terrible deformities, schistosomiasis which causes liver and kidney damage and impaired growth and development, river blindness which causes skin rash eye lesions and blindness and of course HIV/AIDS with more than 27 million infected in 2007. Our goal over the last years has been to improve the prospects for millions of people in Africa. Our programs and others like them have already proved that we can easily treat these diseases and vastly improve the quality of people's lives and their productivity. We could make a vast difference to future African people if we had the means to facilitate access to medial care and drugs to everyone, to educate and to trained health care providers. But to do so we need your help and your committment. About the HIV/AIDS pandemic, in collaboration with domestic AIDS organizations and other, non-traditional participants in international efforts, the CamAssistance program focuses on regional and international AIDS networks based in the USA, while emphasizing the important leadership role of the USA in global AIDS research efforts. We have reached more than one million youths with face-to-face preventaion and supported many thousands in care programs. We provide technical support and advice to a large number of national and international agencies based in more than 45 countries in Africa. We supported over 5,000 AIDS orphans who are often extremely traumatized, isolated, stigmatized and discriminated against. We have given practical support to more than 200,000 peoples living with HIV/AIDS, ranging from basic communities where there is often a severe lack of primary health care infrastructure to full medical support including free Anti Retro Viral therapy and challenge of opportunistic infections such as Tuberculosis and AIDS related Kaposi Sarcoma. We meet the nutritional needs of these patients through provision of supplementary food and basic vital items required for day-to-day functions.
