Mission Statement

Brigid's Hope provides support and assistance for homeless women in transition from incarceration to self-sufficiency. This program is ideal for women who are ready to transition into independent living and need assistance with housing, coordination of resources and the development of a nurturing spiritual community.

Description

BRIGID’S HOPE is a program of Cathedral Health and Outreach Ministries (CHOM)), an umbrella non-profit corporation created by Christ Church Cathedral to operate several health social service outreach programs. BRIGID’S HOPE began in 1998 as an outreach project of Brigid’s Place, a women’s ministry of Christ Church Cathedral, and from 2002 through 2007, it operated as an independent non-profit corporation. Brigid was a 5th century Celtic saint known for her wisdom, compassion, hospitality, and healing. The purpose of BRIGID’S HOPE is to provide support and assistance for homeless women in transition from incarceration to self-sufficiency, a program that tries to live out Brigid’s characteristics in our own time. The program provides transitional housing, mentoring, spiritual support and coordination of resources for women recently released from prisons and jails. This is not a treatment program, but participants will have volunteer mentors who will help them connect with appropriate treatment opportunities. Each woman will have a volunteer mentor who will assist her as she establishes her new home and as she connects with the resources identified in her transition plan.
