Mission Statement


Mentoring Plus is a collaborative program to address mentoring needs of chidren of prisoners in Frederick County, and neighboring communities to include Mt. Airy zip code 21771. This collaboration is between the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Frederick County, faith-based organizations, Frederick County Sheriff's Department, Department of Corrections, State of Maryland and local human service organizations. The objective of the program is offer one-on-one and group mentoring and support services to children and families in high risk situations due to lack of adult mentoring and inadequate social support at home. At present 50 children are involved in one-on-one and group mentoring programs. Over 35 children are on a wait list or rematch list waiting for an adult role model for their own one-to-one mentor.
