Mission Statement

At Harbor Hospice our commitment to excellence is reflected in our core values. Conveying these values throughout the organization with excitement and passion by word and action are what drives us. We believe our work is a sacred one – ministering to the needs of all patients and their families at the end of life. We perform with integrity - by being fair and honest with our customers, employees, and suppliers. We serve our customers - by being responsive, innovative, and by improving the quality of life. We take care of our employees – by training, developing and recognizing achievement and by caring for them and their families. We contribute to our communities – by using our time and resources to improve the communities in which we live and work.

Description

Hospice care is a philosophy of care that accepts dying as a natural part of life. When death is inevitable, hospice seeks neither to hasten nor postpone it but to provide the resources to insure, as best they can, that the final life experience is supported by knowledgeable professionals. Volunteers are literally, the heart of Harbor Hospice, providing a special kind of caring and compassion for our patients and their families. Every day, our volunteers make a difference in the lives of so many people. Whether they offer a listening ear to patients and families, assist with daily household activities for patients, provide grief support, serve as a companion to loved ones or share their personal expertise to help promote hospice care, the time given to Harbor Hospice families by our volunteers can be the most rewarding experiences of their lives.
