DescriptionCity Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada. In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000+ volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries. Job Description: Department: Home Repair/Ministry Center/SHFM Reports To: HR Coordinator; MC Coordinator; SHFM Coordinator; Appalachian Outreach Executive Director Summary Description: The AO Summer Missionary is an integral member of the Appalachian Outreach team. The AO Summer Missionary is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Summer Program while assisting the Appalachian Outreach Coordinators. The AO Summer Missionary works specifically with short term volunteers, daily volunteers, C-N students and the families that we serve. Functional Description: ? Assist with checking-in Volunteer Teams into C-N dorms. This includes, but not limited to: checking rooms prior to Team arrival, giving keys to Teams for check-in, assist with carrying Team luggage to their rooms, retrieving keys from Teams at check-out. ? Create and implement a Volunteer Orientation program for the Sunday Orientation. ? Assist in setting up the Samaritan House Family Ministries multipurpose room for Sunday evening Orientation and dismantle room as needed. ? Manage preparing lunches for Volunteer Teams each morning, while keeping organized the lunch bins/coolers and Bin Prep Room. ? Participate in all morning/evening staff meetings as required. ? Assist in loading/unloading building materials and tools to appropriate vehicle(s). ? Assist in delivering/retrieving building materials and tools to appropriate job site. ? Process donations for the Clothing Closet, Thrift Store and Recycling. ? Oversee and assist with daily Kids Club operations. ? Assist with the daily operations of the SHFM as assigned. ? Work with Volunteer Team to accomplish assigned work projects. ? Communicate needs of Volunteer Teams to the Coordinator. ? Participate in all evening diner activities as assigned. Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Required skill: ? Desire to serve Christ through serving people. ? Sensitivity to issues of poverty. ? Flexibility and patience in work and daily living. ? Self-motivated, results-oriented and initiative driven. ? Team Player ? Excellent communication skills, a good listener and record keeping skills. ? Competent writing skills and basic computer skills. Provides a work study internship with free tuition in City Vision College for a full year paid by hosting ministry. Online courses providing accredited degrees in Nonprofit Management, Addiction Studies, Urban Mission, and Business Administration. Any Pell grant or other federal financial aid paid as cash payment to student (up to $5,645). Expectation is typically 29 hours of volunteer work with 16 hours of class work per week (45 hours total).For Interns with a Bachelors Degree: Two-Year MBA Fellowship Full Scholarship for an MBA through Bakke Graduate University (worth over $18,000; does not include graduation fees or optional travel fees) Two years of supervised nonprofit or ministry experience interning 35 hours/week.
