DescriptionCity Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada. In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000+ volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries. Job Description: Department: Ministry Center Reports To: Ministry center Coordinator; Appalachian Outreach Executive Director Summary Description: The MC Support Staff is an integral member of the Appalachian Outreach team and is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Ministry Center. The MC Support Staff would assist the Ministry Center Coordinator in the day to day operation of the Clothing Closet and Food Pantry while ministering to the families. The Support Staff works specifically with short term volunteers, daily volunteers, CNU students, and the families we serve. Support will be given to the Ministry Center on the days the Center is open and providing service to families. Functional Description: Assist on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the Clothing Closet or Food Pantry. Process donations in the sorting room when needed. Hang up clothes in the Clothing Closet. Process donations in the food pantry, including Food City and Second Harvest deliveries. Create a Family Entry into MC database for families that receive services Prepare advertising as needed. Assist with major projects such as the Backpack Drive, Coats for the Cold, Golf Tournament, Celebration Banquet, and Christmas in Jeff Co. Assist with serving as a liaison in the community with individuals, local churches, civic organizations and student organizations at Carson-Newman University. Train new volunteers in all areas of ministry center operation. Education: High School diploma or equivalent, with preference of Bachelors degree. Experience: Minimum of 2-years experience in customer service, including interaction with families residing in sub-standard living conditions. Required skills: Desire to serve Christ through serving people. Sensitivity to issues of poverty/homelessness. Flexibility and patience in work and daily living. Self-motivated, results-oriented and initiative driven. Team Player Excellent communication skills, a good listener and record keeping skills. A valid drivers license, valid auto insurance and a good driving history. Competent writing and computer skills. Provides a work study internship with free tuition in City Vision College for a full year paid by hosting ministry. Online courses providing accredited degrees in Nonprofit Management, Addiction Studies, Urban Mission, and Business Administration. Any Pell grant or other federal financial aid paid as cash payment to student (up to $5,645). Expectation is typically 29 hours of volunteer work with 16 hours of class work per week (45 hours total).For Interns with a Bachelors Degree: Two-Year MBA Fellowship Full Scholarship for an MBA through Bakke Graduate University (worth over $18,000; does not include graduation fees or optional travel fees) Two years of supervised nonprofit or ministry experience interning 35 hours/week.
