City Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada. In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000+ volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries. Job Description: Mission: To lead revitalization project teams on their projects, communicating effectively between the volunteers and clients. Work Hours: Mondays ? Fridays: 8:00am ? 5:00pm. There are events throughout the year that will require your presence/leadership after hours and/or on Saturdays. Job Description: The Community Outreach Intern will be the community liaison between volunteers and the community members. He or She will be responsible for assisting the Revitalization Volunteer Coordinator with ministry and outreach to the community at large through revitalization work projects, as well as training our volunteers in the process.   • Assist in the planning & prep work for volunteer?s service projects
  • Lead the volunteer teams in starting and completing work projects
  • Ensure the proper use of lawn equipment and tools
  • Should know or be willing to learn how to pull a trailer
  • Community:
  • Document project requests from community members
  • Assist in building a system to track project requests and completed projects
  • Develop & maintain relationships with community members in the third ward through projects
  • Assist in the distribution of donations to community and academy families
  • Facilities (Should complete responsibilities or assist in recruiting volunteers to complete the tasks)
  • Keep the storage units organized and clean
  • Keep all tools and supplies locked up and secure
  • Keep tools and lawn equipment in working order
  • Assist with any maintenance issues in the Gen One building
  • Keep our property lawns cut to an appropriate level
  • Keep our trees, flower beds, and bushes maintained
  • Retrieve any extra tools that are needed for volunteer projects from Keep Houston Beautiful

  • Be pro-active in addressing all good, bad and un-defined issues in your area of work covering work done individually and with other people. This means giving adequate notice to your supervisor so that problems can be minimized.
  • Benefits: For Interns without a Bachelors Degree: One Year Work Study Internship
  • Provides a work study internship with free tuition in City Vision College for a full year paid by hosting ministry.
  • Online courses providing accredited degrees in Nonprofit Management, Addiction Studies, and Urban Missions.
  • Any Pell grant or other federal financial aid paid as cash payment to student (up to $5,645).
  • Expectation is typically 29 hours of volunteer work with 16 hours of class work per week (45 hours total).
  • For Interns with a Bachelors Degree: One Year Paid Internship One Year Paid Internship
  • Volunteer Interns paid a living stipend from $200-$600/month (depending on site).
  • Expectation is typically 40 hours of volunteer work per week.
  • Requirements
  • At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be a Christian
  • U.S. or Canadian citizen, U.S. or Canadian national or lawful permanent resident alien, or have a valid student or work visa
  • Able to make at least a one year (or summer) commitment (may be extended by mutual agreement)
  • Able to financially live on just free housing (and stipend if you opt for the One Year Paid Internship) and any outside income sources you have.
  • Able to relocate to a location of a ministry site (unless a site exists at your current location)
