Organizational Statement of Faith
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The doctrinal statement of Holland Rescue Mission is as follows:
We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and that they are of supreme and
final authority in faith and life.
We affirm the inerrant Scripture to be the sole source of written divine revelation which alone can bind the conscience.
The Bible alone teaches all that is necessary for our salvation from sin and is the standard by which all Christian
behavior must be measured.
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is truly God and truly man.
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but
also spiritual death which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature.
We affirm that in salvation we are rescued from God?s wrath by His grace alone, apart from any human merit. It is the
supernatural work of the Holy Spirit that brings us to Christ by releasing us from the bondage to sin and raising us from
spiritual death to spiritual life.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a sinless representative and
substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who truly believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
We affirm that our salvation is accomplished only by the mediatorial work of the historical Christ on the cross. His
sinless life and substitutionary atonement alone are sufficient for our justification and our reconciliation to the Father,
by satisfying His perfect justice.
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into Heaven, and His present life there
for us as High Priest and Advocate.
We believe in ?that blessed hope,? the personal return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become
children of God.
We affirm that our justification is received by faith alone, apart from any human work. In justification God pardons
the sinner and declares us righteous in His sight by imputing our sin to Christ and by imputing Christ?s righteousness to
us.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the
everlasting punishment of the lost.
We affirm that because our salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, and because of Christ alone, it is for
God?s glory, and that we must glorify Him in all things. We endeavor, therefore, to live our lives before the face of God,
and under His authority.
